The Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Design Engineering [Department of Mechanical engineering] is a postgraduate program at SNU. Students entering this program will be awarded the M.Tech degree on successful completion of 52 credits in 2 years.
This educational program has been started to address the demands of the modern industry. We at Mechanical Engineering Department (SNU) are well- aware of the fact that today’s graduates must have the knowledge of the actual state of the industry, its culture and the complex interactive management and operating systems which are based on value-added efforts, team performance and result-oriented leadership.
Mechanical Engineering Department is offering M.Tech program in Design Engineering. The Master’s Program students are required to complete 21 classroom credit hours, 6 laboratory credit hours and an industrial research thesis of 25 credit hours. The thesis is designed to provide a platform for the students to demonstrate competencies in learned methodologies and acquired skills to enhance real-time performance. The Program will inculcate the skills and ability in the students to effectively fulfill the requirements of positions as Design Engineers, Stress Analyst, and Scientist in various R&D industries and Research laboratories too.

Eligibility
B.E/B. Tech. Degree in Mechanical/Production/Aerospace Engineering with overall marks of at least 60% (or minimum 6.5/10 CGPA). Final year students can apply while awaiting their results. Only students with valid GATE score or a cGPA > 8.0 in their qualifying degree shall be eligible for financial assistantship

Selection process
Eligibility criteria mentioned above is the minimum standards and applications not meeting the same will be summarily rejected. Short-listed candidates will be required to demonstrate their knowledge through a written test and/ or interview, to be held on July 2020*. Selections will be based on past academic performance, written examination and/or interview. Please note that the department reserves the rights to alter the eligibility requirements and course specifications as and when required.

Applications will be considered immediately upon receipt and shortlisted candidates will be notified (email) by June 16, 2020 (tentatively). Hence, candidates are urged to apply as early as possible. You will be contacted for further admission procedure in case you fulfill the admission criteria and get shortlisted for written test and interview.

University offers Teaching Assistantship that include a monthly stipend of ₹ 16000 and waivers in tuition fees (90% waiver) and Hostel fees (70% waiver) to qualified students. The assistantship is available for applicants with valid GATE score or applicants with > 8 cGPA in their qualifying degree in the absence of GATE score. Other applicants not fulfilling the above criteria who have secured admission in the program shall not receive any financial assistantship
Sponsored candidates shall not receive any financial assistantship. Sponsorship letter must be attached with the application.
